Arrogance Stems from Ignorance

The universe is infinitely profound and boundless, while humans are so insignificant that, at times, it seems we are merely another form of biological life.

Humans are like circles: the smaller the circle, the smaller the external world; the larger the circle, the larger the external world. In other words, the richer a person’s inner content and the deeper their understanding of the universe’s mysteries, the more they recognize their own ignorance, and the more likely they are to exhibit humility, modesty, and unpretentiousness.

Conversely, the shallower a person’s inner content and the less they understand the vast world, the more ignorant they are—and the more they regard themselves as exceptional. Such individuals are prone to anger, stubbornness, rigidity, and dissatisfaction with others. They frequently assume they are always right, finding fault here and there. This mindset causes them to become increasingly aloof, arrogant, and disrespectful.

I can state with absolute certainty: arrogance is entirely born of ignorance.

Arrogance stemming from ignorance is a touchstone for evaluating the depth of a person’s inner content.

If we encounter someone whose gaze, tone, or behavior reveals arrogance, we can conclude that this person is ignorant—a decorative pillow stuffed with straw: all appearance and no substance.
