Comprehending the Dao Through Life’s Details
Xuefeng
The Dao is the consciousness of the Greatest Creator. If we wish to understand and perceive this consciousness, we must begin by comprehending the Dao. As I’ve said before, all things, phenomena, and changes are the language of the Greatest Creator. The ever-changing appearances of the world are the Creator speaking to us. Therefore, to understand what the Creator is saying, we must perceive and sense it through the changing details of life.
I’ve given many examples in the past in the Lifechanyuan Corpus and Xuefeng Corpus. Today, I’d like to offer another example to further explain how the Dao operates and how the Greatest Creator is always with us, always caring for and guiding us.
April 1st, 2025 was the day when guests were scheduled to arrive at two lakeside guesthouses at our resort, which had been booked in advance. To welcome their arrival, we began preparations on March 26th. Since it was still a world of ice and snow, bitterly cold, supplying water to the guesthouses became a difficult task. Previously, water pipes had been installed underground to serve the guesthouses, but since they are located by the lake, the pipes were buried shallowly — digging deeper would cause water to surface. However, shallow pipes cannot withstand temperatures that reach minus 30 degrees Celsius each year, so they were frozen.
We tried various ways to heat the pipes. After installing a heating device, we thought the water would flow within two days. Yet by the morning of April 1st, there was still no sign of running water. The guests were arriving that very day — what to do?
We were getting a bit anxious.
April 1st also happened to be the day for delivering a water sample. At 9 a.m., I took the sample to the airport, from where it would be sent to Vancouver for testing. On the way back, I stopped by the former landlord’s house to deliver a letter — a letter that should have been delivered a week earlier, but I had delayed it until April 1st. During my conversation with Mr. Bell, the former landlord, he casually mentioned that we could bypass the frozen underground pipe and instead lay a new pipe directly above ground to the guesthouses. He also pointed out that since daytime temperatures were now above freezing, an above-ground pipe would not freeze easily. He even suggested that laying the pipe along the lake’s edge would be ideal.
After lunch, we acted immediately. We brought several dozen meters of rubber hose, dismantled the old system, and connected the new pipe. Around 4 p.m., just as we finished connecting the hose — before we even had a chance to test it — the guests arrived. We quickly turned on the water: it worked! Water flowed into the guesthouses, and the boiler providing hot water for bathing and washing was functioning perfectly — everything was flawless.
Pay attention to two key details: First, I happened to deliver the letter to the former landlord on April 1st. During our chat, the topic of water supply came up, and he inadvertently offered the solution of laying the pipe above ground. The timing left just enough hours for us to act. Had I delivered the letter earlier or later, I would have missed this piece of advice. Furthermore, if I had simply dropped off the letter and left without chatting, I wouldn’t have received the guidance either. All of this may appear coincidental — but based on my understanding of the Dao, and the many arrangements and insights I’ve received through life’s fine details, I know this was the marvelous orchestration of the Dao — the loving care of the Greatest Creator.
Here’s another small detail: for a while, I had pain in my left rib area. Some of my brothers and sisters advised me on what medicine to take and precautions to follow, but I found it all too troublesome. One day, it suddenly occurred to me that I should entrust this matter to the Dao. After I sincerely expressed this inner intent, the pain eased the next day, and by the third day, it had completely disappeared. It’s been over a month now, and there has been no recurrence.
Many such details have convinced me that firmly believing in the Greatest Creator and the Dao is the most important matter in life.
