For the happiness of humanity and to pioneer a new way of life for humankind, there is a group of people who are laboring day and night, almost without any holidays. Every day, they begin work at 7 a.m. and continue until 5:30 p.m., engaging in nearly 10 hours of intense physical labor daily.
They receive no salary, no bonuses, and eat only simple, plain meals. Several people share one small room. Driven by ideals and a beautiful vision, they persevere with superhuman strength and unyielding spirit on the frontlines of building this new home.
One cannot help but be deeply moved. Among them are a few nearing seventy years of age, and more than a dozen are young men and women barely twenty or twenty-one. They are ordinary people, yet their spirit is extraordinary. Looking at them, one cannot help but feel profound respect — they are people with relatively perfect souls, true embodiments of kindness, beauty, love, faith, and sincerity.
Here it rains almost every day. They work in the rain because they have no other choice. The day before yesterday and yesterday, torrential rain caused landslides and collapses in many places. The water pipeline, stretching over a kilometer to the community, was washed away. Today, most of the team went to repair it. The landslide area was nearly five meters deep and had to be rebuilt with large stones.
They hauled heavy stones on two carts, back and forth, doing extremely strenuous labor. After just two trips, I already felt exhausted, but they kept going tirelessly. Seeing elderly people nearly seventy years old and young girls of barely twenty hauling stones together, tears welled up in my eyes. How diligent and kind-hearted these people are!
Today, there was even a dangerous moment. The stones they were gathering came from a recent landslide area. Above them, at a height of ten meters, several large rocks threatened to fall at any moment, endangering the brothers and sisters collecting stones below. Dao Di Cao, who is agile and nimble, climbed up the steep slope to dislodge the dangerous rocks. But as he did, the slope gave way, and he fell together with the rocks and mud. Thanks to Buddha and God’s protection, he miraculously was unharmed.
By noon, I, a person who barely lifted a finger, already felt exhausted and returned to the base camp alone. Yet they kept working tirelessly. Just as I returned, a truck carrying cement arrived. I quickly gathered the six brothers and sisters who were building walls and tiling washbasins to unload it. Unloading the cement stirred up thick clouds of dust. Their clothes and faces were covered with cement powder. I wanted to help unload a few bags of cement to express my appreciation, but they wouldn’t allow me.
Oh, the deep emotion I felt! What a great honor it is to serve such brothers and sisters!
This is the Chanyuan Celestial beings of Lifechanyuan — a group of truly respectable, beloved, and admirable people. I salute these pioneers of the New Era! With your dedication, miracles will happen. Humanity’s beautiful ideals will certainly come true, and there will surely be a happy and bright future for humankind.
Please enjoy the photos of their labor from the past three days. 2011/9/22
