Reflect on Your Foundations for a Meaningful Life

Xuefeng

March 7, 2011

Do you have talents that can govern the heavens and shape the earth? No?

Then, do you have unyielding determination? No?

Are you hardworking? Not hardworking?

Are you honest and trustworthy? Not honest and trustworthy?

Do you keep your promises and honor your word? Not reliable?

Are you kind-hearted and even-tempered? Not kind and bad-tempered?

Do you have a specific skill or craft? No particular skill?

Do you firmly believe in the existence of the Greatest Creator? No belief?

Well then, let me tell you—you lack the foundation for a meaningful life.

You might ask, "But here I am, living well and enjoying life. How can you say I lack the foundation for life?"

Let me explain. The fact that you are alive, living well, and seemingly enjoying life is because you are living off the blood, sweat, and tears of others. You are surviving on others' pain, suffering, and hard work.

For a person to have a true foundation for life, they must possess at least one of these eight qualities:

1.Talents to govern the heavens and shape the earth

2.Unyielding determination

3.Hard work

4.Honesty and trustworthiness

5.A strong sense of commitment and reliability

6.Kindness and even temper

7.A specific skill or craft

8.Firm belief in the Greatest Creator

If you possess one of these qualities, you have a foundation for life. If you possess two, you’re remarkable! If you possess three, you’re extraordinary! If you possess four, you’re exceptional! If you possess five, you’re a great person! If you possess six, you’re a saint! If you possess seven, you’re the embodiment of perfection! If you possess all eight—Heavens! Is that even possible?
